          Taxpayer Identification Numbers


How may I find information about UCLA's taxpayer ID numbers?

UCLA frequently receives requests for UCLA's Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).  Federal taxpayer ID numbers are issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the state ID numbers are issued by the California Franchise Tax Board.  If you should receive a request for UCLA's primary federal taxpayer ID numbers, please refer to the information listed below.

UCLA's State Taxpayer ID Number:  935-0510-5
UCLA's State Taxpayer ID Number is assigned by the Employment Development Department (EDD) Every employer, including the University of California, is subject to the State income tax withholding and/or the unemployment and disability insurance provisions of the California Unemployment Insurance Code, and is assigned an EAN by the Employment Development Department (EDD).

UCLA Taxpayer ID Numbers Used for Patient Billing Purposes Only

Some of UCLA's departments that provide medical services utilize a unique federal taxpayer ID number for patient billing purposes only.  Please consult UCLA Tax Services before using one of these unique taxpayer ID numbers for purposes other than patient billing related matters.

UCLA's Seller's Permit Number
UCLA holds a valid Sellers Permit Number issued by the State Board of Equalization (SBE) for use by departments that engage in the sales of tangible personal property.  Departments engaged in these activities are required to display UCLA's sellers permit in plain view. Sellers permit numbers are issued by the California State Board of Equalization and can be verified on the SBE website. Departments should contact Tax Services if they need a resale certificate.
